The History of O’Sullivan Farms
Founded in 1939, O’Sullivan Farms is West Virginia’s oldest Thoroughbred farm. Located on fertile limestone soil once settled by the Washington family in the northern Shenandoah Valley, the farm has developed a long tradition of breeding and racing quality horses.
Our nutritional program is designed to raise the soundest, strongest, horses possible. Pastures are all spacious, rounded and fenced with new oak boards. Hay is a homegrown alfalfa and clover/timothy harvested from fields that are soil tested and fertilized annually.
Our staff is experienced and dedicated, allowing us to offer our clients a full range of services; including boarding, breeding, foaling, breaking, training, racing partnerships, pedigree analysis, stallion syndication, and accounting and tax consultation.
For four generations, family owned and operated O’Sullivan Farms has been a landmark of the West Virginia’s Thoroughbred industry. If you want your horse to have the utmost in experienced care, contact us.
Randy and John Funkhouser are proud to introduce Aldrin, a three-quarter brother to Tapit, America’s champion sire for the last three years. Aldrin will stand his first season at O’Sullivan Farms, West Virginia’s oldest thoroughbred breeding farm, in Charles Town, WV, in 2018. Aldrin is a winning son of Malibu Moon out of stakes winner Tap Your Heels, by Unbridled Song. He was the most expensive of Tap Your Heels’ offspring to go through the auction ring, topping the 2014 Keeneland April Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training at $1,000,000 after posting an eighth-mile in 9.80 seconds. Aldrin’s first four dams have all produced extremely influential sires: Foggy Note (dam of Relaunch), Moon Glitter (dam of Glitterman), Ruby Slippers (dam of champion Rubiano), and Tap Your Heels (dam of Tapit). Aldrin is Tapit’s only brother to stand at stud. Limited lifetime breeding rights for Aldrin are available now. Please contact O’Sullivan Farms for further details at 304-725-2276 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We were very excited to see Tapit, Aldrin's three-quarter brother, recently top the Keeneland Book 1 Sale with three horses, Hip 49 for $2.6 million, Hip 69 for $2.7 million and Hip 105 for $2.5 million. This just further establishes Tapit's reputation as America's #1 sire. Considering that Aldrin will stand for a fraction of Tapit's $300,000 stud fee, we think that Aldrin will offer breeders a bargain both on the race track and in the sales ring!!!
